Gabriel Cohen is an artist, writer, and curator from Chicago, Illinois. His studio practice primarily involves the creation of drawing, sculpture, media work and writing through which he considers the nature of loss, longing and distance at a moment in time when the process of acquiring knowledge regarding a subject—phenomenological or otherwise—has become complicated by the mass circulation of images and information.

Gabriel is an alumni of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Vermont Studio Center. His recent exhibitions include solo projects with In Lieu (Los Angeles) and New Works (Chicago), as well as group and two person shows at Obst Space (Chicago), Prairie (Chicago), Kings Leap (Brooklyn), 24 Hour Charlie’s (Los Angeles) and The Works (Providence). His writing has been published both domestically by UCLA’s Graphite Journal, supported by a reading at the Hammer Museum, and internationally by the Helsinki based magazine WNTT. Curatorial projects organized and co-organized by Gabriel have been presented at the non-for-profit gallery Trade Pop-Up (Providence), as well as by the nomadic space Fri-Ends and the Lower Manhattan based MX Gallery (NY).

He has driven the length of the country a few times over in his red 2002 Jeep Liberty.
